CODE OF CONDUCT

Harley Academy is committed to policy and practice of professional and academic standards of behaviour to which we require our trainees conform.

The Harley Academy Code of Conduct sets out the principles, values, standards of care and professional behaviour expected of the medical professionals training with us.

Our trainees must adhere to this Code of Conduct when attending all Harley Academy events and other public or academy events affiliated with Harley Academy. This covers Foundation Training, Mentoring and Observation sessions at all Harley Academy and affiliate sites, events hosted by Harley Academy or affiliate centres, and examination days.

OUR PURPOSE

Harley Academy’s purpose is to provide specialist training in the use, application and maintenance of the product(s) practitioners are using in aesthetic medicine. Safety and professionalism is at the heart of all practices that surround this aim.

PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT

Trainees attending courses must be professionally registered throughout their studies at Harley Academy and adhere to the rules of their own Professional Regulatory & Statutory Body (PRSB) at all times. We only accept registered doctors, dentists, nurses, clinical pharmacists and dental therapists onto our courses, who have no restrictions to their practice.

International Registrations are also accepted, providing you are a doctor, dentist, nurse, clinical pharmacist or dental therapist and can evidence a license to practice, with evidence of this within the previous 12 months, with no restrictions to that practice.

Professional conduct encompasses managing patients in a clinically supervised environment. This includes treating patients as their first concern within the foundations of trust, integrity and medical professionalism.

Trainees are expected to be reasonably prepared for the clinical environment in terms of knowledge and skills. They are also expected to dress appropriately for the clinical environment and pay due attention to infection control.

Professional conduct also extends to treating Harley Academy staff with professionalism, respect, fairness and care. Trainees are responsible for their own wellbeing, health and safety, as well as the safety of others.

All trainees are expected to embrace their accountability for their continuing professional development including learning through reflective practice

Professional conduct also extends to the way in which Harley Academy students treat each other and members of Harley Academy staff.

As representatives of Harley Academy, trainees must act professionally with patients at all points of contact.

All Harley Academy trainees are expect to act with probity, as per GMC, NMC, GDC and GPhC guidelines.

ACADEMIC CONDUCT

Harley Academy does not tolerate plagiarism of any kind. Specific examples of malpractice conduct include:

  • Talking to other students during written or verbal examinations
  • Assisting others with any aspect of their assessment
  • Selling or making available assessment materials online, via email, or on social media
  • Disrupting others in the in-person or remote examination room
  • Bringing notes or unauthorised materials, including mobile devices, to the exam
  • Sitting an exam on behalf of someone else
  • Using artificial intelligence (AI) tools or platforms to generate or assist with exam responses or assessments

CONFIDENTIALITY

Trainees must maintain the confidentiality of all personal or sensitive information, in line with privacy laws. All patient photography remains the property of The Academy Clinic and Harley Academy.
