Course Description

Kick-start Your Career

Guided by our expert trainers and educators, the multi-stage Injectables Foundation Programme is the perfect start to your career in aesthetic medicine, grounding you in best practices you will keep throughout your career.

Treat Your First Patient

Our programme uniquely includes one-to-one supervision of your first treatment by one of our expert mentors. This not only provides the safest experience for your patient but gives you the support you need to effectively consult, treat and follow-up with them.

Meet Insurance Requirements

Your Harley Academy Foundation Day certificate enables you to gain insurance to practice and continue training.

Free Starter Pack

Leave your Foundation Day with a starter pack containing all the consumables you need to treat your first patients. You will also receive our ‘Good Practice Guide’, which answers all your tricky questions regarding prescribing, insurance and data protection.

Course Structure

Through our extensive experience as the largest provider in injectables education for healthcare professionals, we have learned that a multi-stage foundation experience is the best start to your career. That’s why our Foundation Programme follows a three-step process:

Digital eLearning

We want your time with our expert trainers to be spent on practical skills and exploring your questions. That is why we provide you with interactive digital learning prior to your training, created by our specialist learning team to teach you the theory you need to know in the most painless way possible!

Face To Face Training

This 8-hour day is led by experienced aesthetic doctors and includes case studies, live demonstrations of injection techniques on patients, simulated practical experience on professional silicone mannequins and detailed instruction on how to manage complications and practice safely.

Your First Treatment

This 60 minute one-to-one session with one of our expert mentors in our clinic can be booked at a time convenient to you in the two months following your Foundation Day. You will be guided through consultation and treatment of your patient*, and advised on how to carry out your follow-up.

*We require you to bring your own patient for treatment because it is essential that you review your patient after two weeks to benefit fully from the learning experience. We provide full guidance in selecting your patient.

After Completion

You have two options after Foundation Training at Harley Academy:

  • Start Practicing Independently: Your Foundation Certificate permits you to gain insurance to inject both botulinum toxins and dermal fillers. We do not recommend this route unless you have your own private mentor who can observe and improve your skills until you’re confident and proficient enough to meet the new Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP) training requirements.
  • Level 7 course in Injectables for Aesthetic Medicine: We recommend all practitioners achieve a Level 7, the new minimum recommended standard of training for injectables. This Foundation Training Day is step one of the nationally-recognised Level 7 qualification in Injectables.

Get your Foundation Programme for free: If you are accepted onto this more advanced programme, you will be eligible for a limited time to receive the cost of your foundation training off the Level 7 fees.

What Will I Learn

The Foundation Programme covers the basics of botulinum toxin (BOTOX®) and dermal filler interventions for facial aesthetic rejuvenation. By the end of the programme, you will be able to deliver both botulinum toxin and dermal filler treatments in the private setting.

The Harley Academy difference? You will never learn from watching another beginner.

All of our training is within a functioning clinic, with direct one-to-one supervision by an experienced practitioner. You will treat your first patient one-to-one with us in one of our clinics, the most hands-on experience of any introductory course on the market.

Completion of the programme will leave you with a foundation knowledge of:

Pre-treatment care

Recognise indications for treatment with botulinum toxins (also known as botox) and dermal fillers, including Glabellar Lines, Crow’s Feet, Horizontal Forehead Lines, Nasolabial Folds, Lip Volume, Cheek Volume, and Marionette depressions. Undertake a thorough assessment of your patient, and keep good clinical records.

Deliver safe injections

Understand the relevant facial muscles and vascular anatomy for accurate, safe injections. You’ll also get to know the types of different of botulinum toxins and dermal fillers are available, and how to formulate and administer them.

Post-treatment care

Deliver appropriate post-injection advice for optimal results. Recognise complications for botulinum toxin and dermal filler treatments and deliver appropriate management.

Medical education

You’ll be able to empower and educate your patients about cosmetic injectables using your new understanding of the basics of skin science, the processes of facial ageing, and the biochemistry and mode of action of botulinum toxins.

Who Is This Course For

Essential requirements for joining this course:

  • A Level 6 (undergraduate) degree in medicine, nursing or dentistry
  • A valid GMC/NMC/GDC number with an active license to practice in the UK
  • English as a first language, or English Language Testing System (IELTS) 7.0 in all components

International students may be accepted if an equivalent level of education can be demonstrated, and you are professionally registered. Please refer to our Entry Requirements Policy for details.

Note for Non-Prescribers

Botulinum toxins are prescription-only. If you are a non-prescriber you can find a prescriber to work with who can provide clinical oversight.
