Harley Academy has been selected as a finalist for not just one but two categories at the well-known Aesthetics Awards in 2017.

Category 1: Best Independent Training Provider

Judging process: This category is decided by both the judging panel and votes from Aesthetics journal readers. Vote here.

The Enhance Insurance Award for Best Independent Training Provider goes is for those who provide impartial training that is not funded by pharmaceutical companies or manufacturers.

This award will be presented to the independent training provider whose training programme(s) are considered to have advanced the education of medical aesthetics professionals most effectively over the course of the year. We submitted the Harley Academy Level 7 Certificate in Injectables for Aesthetic Medicine because it has visibly spearheaded a revolution in aesthetic training.

The term ‘level 7’ is on many lips and is now even a category in the Journal Aesthetics. We are proud to have been the original course creators. It remains the first and only level 7 qualification to be fully in-line with the Health Education England guidelines of 2015. We are also delighted to see so many training centres even outside of Harley Academy now offering this course.

What is the Level 7 Course?

The certificate is not just a piece of paper. It is a full qualification guaranteed by Ofqual, and as a Level 7, stands on a par with Masters level postgraduate degrees in the UK Government’s system of qualification grading.

The course itself is carefully mapped to each learning outcome and assessment criteria laid out by Health Education England the Department of Health in 2015-2016. Training is split into three core categories of training, each designed to provide the maximum benefit of its respective teaching style:

  1. Face to face lectures and live demonstrations during the foundation training days and treatment observation days (3 days total)
  2. Interactive online learning including diagrams, audio-visual material, written content and opportunities at each stage for the learner to test their knowledge (144 hours CPD accredited)
  3. Closely supervised 1:1 mentoring, tailored to the individual delivering the procedures. This is fully in keeping with the original Health Education England guidelines. (5-6 days)

What would winning the Initiative of the Year category mean for us?

Winning would help us in our mission to raise the standard of aesthetic training in the UK. In a country without government regulation of the delivery of cosmetic procedures, it is up to relevant bodies like Harley Academy and Aesthetics Journal to embrace the process of self-regulation.

Category 2 : Professional Initiative of the Year

Judging process: This category is decided by both the judging panel and votes from Aesthetics journal readers. Vote here.

The PHI Clinic Award for Professional Initiative of the Year is a new award recognises the important role that both patient-focused and professional campaigns play in promoting consumer education and patient safety.

We submitted our Level 7 Fast Track. We strongly believe it to be the most progressive professional initiative of the year insofar as it allows all cosmetic practitioners to easily demonstrate that they can meet the same national standards as the new wave of level 7 course graduates.

“It’s all about standardisation. Essentially, ensuring that there is one national gold standard,” said Dr Tristan Mehta, founding director of Harley Academy. “Without unity, dangerous knowledge gaps will persist and be handed down from practitioner to practitioner.”

What is the Level 7 Fast Track?

If you are on the Fast Track you can receive the same level 7 as new graduates but in a fraction of the time. You would submit photographic or clinical evidence that proves the high standard of their clinical practice over at least three years. This forms a portfolio of work on our system.

As well as the ability to top up theory using our intelligent e-learning, Fast Track delegates also have exclusive access to advanced 1:1 mentoring in complex procedures such as tear troughs and non-surgical rhinoplasty with our team of highly experienced mentors. This is perfect for practitioners who have been practicing simple non-surgical procedures learned on weekend courses years ago, but who lack the network to find their own personal mentor in more advanced, dangerous procedures. This allows those individuals to take their skills to the next level in a safe, 1:1 environment.

What would winning the Initiative of the Year category mean for us?

Winning would raise the awareness about the opportunity for a single, unified approach to responsible accreditation in aesthetics.
